"Islam disavows any extremism", Egyptian minister

Egyptian Minister of Awqaf (endowments) has slammed extremist groups that kill others under the name of Islam stressing Islam disavowal of extremism.

Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, in a phone interview with ETC channel denounced the extremist groups that misuse religion to guarantee their benefits and commit crime under the name of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said," Religion disavows all extremists" and condemned any extremist behavior by so-called Islamic groups.
 
Top Egyptian official also related on the 28th International Qur'an competition underway in the capital Cairo and called analysis and comprehension of Qur'anic knowledge as a priority for Awqaf Ministry besides memorization of the holy book.
