Human rights watch urges freedom of Bahraini political activists
Human rights watchdog has called for immediate and unconditional liberation of political prisoners urging the al Kalifa authorities to put their names on the list of royal pardon.

Human rights watch has issued a statement saying Bahraini authorities should apply the pardon usually granted on the Bahrain National Day on December 16 to release the political prisoners including lawyers, activists and journalists, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Part of the statement referred to a Hassan Mushaima, Secretary General of the Haq Movement, Abdulwahhab Hussein, political activist, writer and religious figure, Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, political activist and Abduljalil al-Sangace, Bahraini engineer and blogger calling for release of the most important opposition leaders who have been in jail for over a decade.
This is while Michael Page, deputy director in the Middle East and North Africa division at Human Rights Watch called Bahrain with the highest average number of prisons in comparison with the Middle East population with the most prominent opposition leaders in jail for over a decade.
He called on the Bahraini authorities for immediate and unconditional release of all those jailed because of their political views.
Human rights watch reiterated that Bahraini authorities have pardoned or released 1,486 prisoners since the outbreak of COVID-19 and that the COVID-related and National Day pardons have not granted to prominent political prisoners.
