Ali Asghar Khaji, the senior advisor to Iran's foreign minister for political affairs, met with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, on Sunday and called on the international community to intervene to end the war and lift the inhuman siege on Yemenis.

The UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen also stressed the need for UN assistance to lift the siege, establish a ceasefire and resume political talks in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, invaded Yemen in March 2015.
The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed tens of thousands and displaced millions of Yemenis, destroying over 85 percent of the country's infrastructure.
