Over 150 world's scholars sit for Int'l conference on great founder of Islamic Revolution
More than 150 thinkers as foreign guests participating in the ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini on Friday gathered in a conference on "Imam Khomeini " in Tehran.

Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary General of the World Islamic Awakening Assembly, in a message to the guests attending the ceremony to mark 33rd anniversary of Imam Khomeini's demise, read by his deputy, Hussein Akbari, said: "The resistance of the people in the region is a sign of the continued efforts of Late Imam Khomeini aimed at reviving and awakening people."
Referring to Imam Khomeini's years of efforts, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic
emphasized: "He founded a revolution that ended a historical decline and not only freed Iran from the yoke of the oppressors, but also became a distinct role model for the freedom-seeking and just Muslim nations of the world."
Dr. Velayati stressed: "Imam Khomeini instilled the spirit of self-confidence and self-belief among the oppressed nations of the world."
He further explained that when the world considered the Palestinian issue was over and no one believed that the oppressed people of Palestine would create a stone-to-missile intifada by throwing stones under the light of the Islamic Revolution, and this was the light and legitimacy of Imam Khomeini who had inspired self-confidence among Muslims.
Following this ceremony, the message of Ziad al-Nakhaleh, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, was broadcast to the audience in a video format.
In another part of the ceremony, Kazem Sedighi, Tehran Interim Friday prayers leader, said: " When the West and the East considered religion ineffective and there was no hope for the oppressed, Imam Khomeini raised the banner of struggle with the power of knowledge, science and ijtihad and called on the young generation to fight against Tyranny through jihad (religious fighting).
He added: "The Islamic essence of the Islamic Republic belongs to the Leader, whose government is the rule of jurisprudence, science, justice and democracy. The attraction which belongs to the Leader who has always strengthened the people on the scene to continue the revolution."
"The Imam brought with him, religion, monotheism, uprising and martyrdom. A nation woke up and other nations woke up after him. And a new path and a new hope was formed for the oppressed.", he explained further.
Ahmad Reza Hajati, one of the thinkers and author of Imam Khomeini's book, also said in this conference: Imam Khomeini proved that religion is the driving force for the movement of nations. Today, there is no university in the United States unless they have a field with an Islamic orientation and a number of veiled Muslims in it."
He added that Imam Khomeini revived not only Islam but also other religions among their followers.
