People from different walks of life took part in the ceremony to pay respect to the lofty status of Imam Reza, who is considered by Iranians a symbol of divine love and affection.

The ceremony came days after the movie 'Holy Spider' was felicitated during the Cannes Film Festival, which Muslims saw as an affront to Islamic beliefs and sanctities.

Iranian officials believe awarding the movie is an insulting and politically-motivated move and the product of the ‘confused mind” of its Danish-Iranian filmmaker, supported and financed by global arrogance.

People strongly condemned the move made in France, saying such sacrilegious actions will never be ignored or forgotten.

They also protested against insulting remarks made about Prophet Mohammad by two ruling party leaders in India recently.

The gathering sent a strong message to the enemies of Islam that Muslims will never remain silent and indifferent to insults against their beliefs and sacred religious figures and are ready to defend them in any circumstances.
