Indonesia eyes turning to world’s leading Halal producer
Indonesia expects to speed up process of issuing Halal certificates in a bid to become world’s leading supplier of Halal products.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs is issuing free Halal certificates (Sehati) as a stretgy for Halal Product Assurance Implementing Board (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal or “BPJPH”).
Aqeel Irham, head of BPJPH said the move is also in line with turning Indonesia to turn Indonesia to leading Halal producer until 2024.
He expressed hope that Sehati will increase the number of Halal products by domestic producers particularly macro, small and medium enterprises.
He stressed Indonesia’s capability, with 64 million small and medium enterprises, to become the biggest Halal producer and that BPJPH should solve the issues related to Halal certificates.
He also reiterated that Malaysia, according to global Halal reports, has won the first of world Halal industry while they have followed the model of Indonesia.
According to Aqeel Irham, issuing free Halal certificate stands for the government’s support for Halal industry especially when the aforesaid association has issued 350,000 free Halal certificates for Indonesian enterprises.
