Cleric stresses regional conferences as way to foil anti-Islam plots
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought warned of enemies’ plots to divide different Islamic denominations and highlighted the role of regional conferences in foiling intrigues against Shias and Sunnis.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in a meeting with senior Iraqi mufti Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaei and discussed importance of constant meetings and conferences as way to confront enemies, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” Enemies are in constant pursuit of dividing the Islamic denominations and states, a plague which should be confronted.”
The cleric stressed importance of increasing meetings and talks to boost solidarity among Muslims and referred to “unity” as a frequently recommended necessity in Islamic sharia.
“To settle disagreements is possible through active role played by prominent scholars and Muslims pursuit of true Islam” said Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari.
He warned that the common enemies of Shias and Sunnis struggle to divide the states, religions and denominations; therefore, to hold regional unity conferences by Shia and Sunni scholars is an effective way to confront hostile plots.
Senior Iraqi scholar Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaei welcomed the proposal for holding regional Islamic unity conference in Iraq and vowed full cooperation with Iran’s cultural attaché in this regard.
He reiterated importance of solidarity among all Muslims and stressed the disagreement among jurists are over minor issues while they mainly agree on important principles.
Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaei vowed cooperation with Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought on measures to boost Islamic unity.
