He pointed to his meeting with his Uzbek counterpart and added: One of the main items we discussed in the meeting was the interaction and development of political, economic, and cultural relations in various sectors with the countries of Central Asia, and Uzbekistan is a friend and brother country with the largest population among the former Soviet countries.
Qalibaf also pointed to the efforts of the two countries to develop relations in the parliamentary, economic, trade, transportation, and cultural fields and said: Uzbekistan plays a very important role in the development of transportation, including the North-South and East-West corridors.
Afghanistan was one of the other issues that Qalibaf discussed with his Uzbek counterpart.
He added: Considering the situation in Afghanistan, the countries of the region need cooperation to help Afghanistan. We hope that these meetings can lead to the development of relations in the region.
The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Uzbekistan also said: Today we discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries in all fields. I must say that in recent years the relations between the two countries have developed in all fields, which is due to the determined will of the presidents of the two countries.
Nuruddin Jan Ismailov added: We emphasize the development of economic and commercial relations and transportation. We think we have more capacity to develop relationships further.
Ismailov pointed out: Of course, these days, parliamentary cooperation between the two countries is developing, and in recent years we have taken great steps in this field, and our meeting today was a logical continuation of the talks between the speakers of the two parliaments in Tashkent. When governments try to develop relations, parliaments should also try to provide legal foundations for the development of these relations.
"We talked about Afghanistan, we both have a common border with Afghanistan, and its situation is very important to us, and establishing peace and security in it is very important to us. We are determined to improve the situation in Afghanistan as much as possible."
