Hissein Brahim Taha appreciated the agreement reached between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the Jeddah talks to extend the ceasefire for five days.
The OIC Secretary-General expressed hope that the agreement would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and ending of the armed conflict in Sudan.
The Secretary-General praised the good efforts deployed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to reach this agreement for mediating the truce.
Hundreds of people have been killed, thousands more injured and over 1.4 million displaced since the hostilities turned into armed conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
