A senior Iranian Sunni cleric has warned of the misinterpretation of religion leading to catastrophic situations.

Mamusta Abdul Rahman Mohammadpour, in his remarks at the second international conference on coexistence, called for measures to move towards accurate education on objectives of religion, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He stressed,” Such conferences should cleanse the tarnished image of religion” demanding,” How can those commit homicide claim to be a follower of Islam while man’s life is set in a higher stance than holy Kaaba (the praying direction of Muslims).”
 
Iranian Sunni cleric noted,” If authors, academics, intellectuals and artists do not endeavor to illustrate the true image of Islam, then some claimants will pretend as representatives of the holy religion and will confine Islam only to mosques and Husseiniyas.”
 
Iranian professor of Sunni seminaries, Mamusta Abdul Rahman Mohammadpour, made the remarks at the second international conference on coexistence held at the University of Tehran in the Iranian capital on Saturday.
