The Organization of Islamic Organization has marked the World Refugee Day stressing that helping the refugees as both a humanitarian and Islamic obligation.

The OIC Secretary General, Hissein Brahim Taha stressed importance of prioritizing the humanitarian needs of the vulnerable group forced to leave their homes due to conflict and natural disasters, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He indicated that the OIC humanitarian agenda recognizes the exceptional circumstances of refugees and aims to provide them with the necessary assistance.
He emphasized that helping and protecting refugees as both a humanitarian and Islamic obligation, according to the teachings of Islam, the OIC Charter, and relevant national and international laws.
According Brahim Taha, the OIC Member States currently bear the highest share of the global refugee burden, hosting over half of the world's refugees.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance of addressing the underlying causes of the refugee crisis in the Islamic world to assist this vulnerable group effectively.
He reiterated the consistent efforts along with the international organizations to find long-term solutions and facilitate the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of refugees based on the international agreements and protocols.
On June 20th each year, the world celebrates World Refugee Day, as declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December 2000.
