Iran Offers Formation of BRICS Information Network
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani stressed the necessity of setting up the BRICS information network to share the real stream of information among the BRICS member countries and deterring Western media hegemony.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman in this meeting hosted by Moscow describes Iran's view for using functions of cooperation of national media to empower BRICS' status in the international arena, boosting ties of national media of member countries to create a common information space, using digital diplomacy tools and artificial intelligence capabilities in foreign diplomacy to fighting the flow of fake and misleading news and information as well as western propaganda.
Kanaani described Iran's agenda in creating the BRICS Information Network for countering the hegemony of Western media and creating free space for BRICS media activity in the West, countering false and misleading campaigns and fake news of Western media, countering the negative effects of Western media, countering media effects of western unilateral sanctions and unilateral coercive measures against the member states of BRICS through setting information network and promoting global human rights values versus western media double standards of human rights.
Kanani stresses that media diplomacy is an integral part of diplomatic activities because the media power to promote diplomatic views, and said that despite past times when Western powers used military tools to influence people, today it is the media and virtual information networks that capture the hearts and minds of the audience through messages.
The head of Iran's Foreign Diplomacy Center pointed out that Western bloc media trying to mislead public opinion by creating false media campaigns, and we, as BRICS member countries, can promote multilateralism and confront Western media unilateralism by mobilizing our media and promoting digital diplomacy to counter western destructive media trends.
Kanani pointed out that what is now more important than any other element in the path of media justice is the cycle of media flow highlighting the promotion of multilateralism and creating a free, fair, and constructive media flow.
