Biggest proximity funeral, prayer in history of Islam held for Hamas leader
An executive at Iran’s major Islamic unity center has hailed the funeral procession of assassinated Hamas politburo chief in Iran as unique instance of Shia Sunni unity.

Mohsen Meschi, director of Iran affairs deputy at World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in a note published on Tuesday, condemned the Israeli assassination of the Hamas chief who was in the Iranian capital as a special guest of the Islamic Republic, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said that the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh further boosted solidarity among different Islamic denominations and a great instance of this unity was in the funeral procession held for the Hamas leader in Iran.
Mohsen Meschi added,” We have had no similar ceremony that the leader of Shia community in an Islamic country performed the funeral prayer for a Sunni leader from another country.”
He added that the Shia style of mourning, as performed by millions of Iranians who attended the funeral ceremony of Ismail Haniyeh in the capital Tehran, was an instance of affection between the Shia and Sunni Muslims.
“Hamas leader’s funeral must be registered among the greatest proximity funeral processions held across the world of Islam”, continued the Iranian cultural figures.
Mohsen Meschi counted a number of prominent Iranian Shia and Sunni scholars who joined the international participants in Haniyeh’s funeral procession and said,” This glorious unity has boosted the solidarity between Iranian and Palestinian nation.”
