Hujjat-ul-Islam Kazem Seddiqi, made the remarks in his Friday sermon on August 23, on the eve of the Arbaeen procession that marks the 40th day after martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” The great multi-million march of pilgrims for Arbaeen is a unique event in history” , hailing the Shia ceremony attended by Shias descending in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala.
 
The senior cleric lauded the Iranian government and nation and highlighted the efforts by the Iraqi government and Iraqi resistance known as Hashd al-Shaabi for maintaining the security of the ceremony.

This year Arbaeen falls on August 24 as Shia Muslims attend the commemoration ceremony of Imam Hussein (AS) who was martyred together with 72 of his companions and family members in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
