“Unified ummah, prerequisite to launch of Union of Islamic countries”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, the Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, made the remarks at the press briefing held for the 38th Islamic Unity Conference held at Tehran’s University of Islamic Denominations on Saturday morning, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

“To respect the differences, avoiding any clash or conflict, terror, excommunication and desecration are among other shared values”, said the cleric as part of the commonalities that must be highlighted in line with boosting unity in the world of Islam.

He called holy al-Quds, among all sites sacred to the different Islamic denominations, as the heart of the Muslim world which is hoped to be liberated soon.

The cleric called on Islamic countries to reveal practical instances of cooperation towards Muslim unity saying,” Palestine could be the best axis for boosting the relations among Islamic countries.”

He expressed regret over the high number of Palestinian fatalities in the besieged Gaza Strip after the Israeli regime launched its onslaughts early September last year and said,” We should rise against the oppressors in support of the Palestinian people.”

He expressed hope that the upcoming Islamic Unity Conference will pave the way for further Islamic cooperation in confrontation with the Israeli regime.

According to Dr Hamid Shahriari, more than 200 Muslim elites will deliver speech in 15 webinars to be aired in the first part of the 38th Islamic Unity Conference, beginning on Saturday.

He added that the 38th Islamic Unity Conference, entitled "Islamic cooperation to achieve common values with an emphasis on the Palestinian issue", will officially open in a ceremony to be attended by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday September 19.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari said more than 100 guests from America, Africa, Europe and Islamic countries as well as high ranking officials from Iran will take part in the conference, a number of them from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and United Arab Emirates participating the event for the first time.
