A Malaysian Muslim thinker has stressed the role of Islam in bringing the hearts of Muslims closer to each other saying that solidarity should be maintained both within the world of Islam and in interaction with other religions.

Mari Qopti Merpaong, speaking at the fourth webinar of the 38th International Islamic Unity Conference called on Muslims to protect their hearts against hatred and boost their solidarity with both Muslims and non-Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
She noted that to replace disunity for affection in one’s heart, be it caused by disagreements within the Islamic nation or hostile efforts to sow discord among Muslims, will certainly undermine coordination and cooperation in the Islamic nation.
 
The Malaysian elite stressed importance of enlightenment among different Islamic denominations and said,” To protect unity and cooperation among followers of one denomination is important in foiling plots by enemies.”
 
She concluded that members of a religious community should respect the different beliefs in order to prevent any likely division.
