Senior Hamas official, Khalil Hayya confirmed the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, head of the political office of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and said he was martyred in the clashes with Zionist forces in Gaza.

In a live TV address Khalil Hayya said that Yahyah Sinwar was martyred in the combat and the Palestinian group honours "the memory of the fallen martyr, Yahya Sinwar".
Yahya Sinwar sacrificed his life to the cause of our liberation and met his end standing brave, with his head held high, holding his firearm, firing until the last breath, until the last moment of his life, Khalil Hayya said.
"Sinwar has lived his whole life as a holy fighter. Since his early days, he was engaged in his struggle as a resistant fighter. He stood defiant behind Israeli bars and after his release in a swapped deal, he continued with his struggle and his dedication to the cause, Khalil Hayya deputy chief of Hamas Political office and head of Hamas in Gaza said."
Yahya Sinwar,61, was a high-ranking Hamas military commander who has been fighting in the besieged Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack.
Yahya Sinwar was chosen as the head of the political bureau of the Hams, succeeded the martyr Commander Ismail Haniyeh, two days after Haniyeh was assassinated in an attack on his residence in the early hours of July 31 in Tehran.
