Cleric stresses human dignity must be preserved in international level

The custodian of Imam Reza(AS) shrine in Mashhad says those claiming to advocate human rights must show that in action.

Ayatollah Ahmad Marvi, referring to the atrocities against Muslims across the globe particularly in West Asia region said resistance against arrogant powers will protect human dignity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The cleric made the remarks in his speech at the opening ceremony of the first international conference on “Human Dignity and Family Challenges in Modern World “held in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad.

He said,” Nations who stood against oppression have in fact proved that they dismiss sacrificing their dignity for their material interests.”

The Iranian scholar underlined necessity of protecting human dignity in the international level and said,” Defending human rights must not turn into the means for political ends” and added,” If claimants of human rights truly believe in human dignity, then they must show that in action.”

Ayatollah Marvi warned that if human dignity is ignored in a society, then other human values will gradually be forgotten”, calling human dignity as a value in light of which all human values become meaningful.

He noted that human dignity necessitates that man is commemorated in all spiritual aspects (beyond the material aspects).

The custodian of Imam Reza shrine referred to the efforts by Islamic countries to build a new Islamic civilization stressing that,” This path will only be available based on human dignity.

The senior cleric slammed the West over a hypocritical stance when it claims to advocate human dignity but in practice degrades people’s necessities to material demands.
