The UN agency, in its latest statement, warned against the hunger crisis and the risk of the continuation of the Israeli war and siege on the Palestinians throughout the Gaza Strip, especially in the north.
“The ongoing military operation in northern Gaza has led to the displacement of 130,000 people over the past seven weeks,” the UN Commissioner of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini said.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also warned that “the ongoing hostilities throughout the Strip are still exposing the Palestinians to a serious danger, especially civilians who are trying to survive in light of the Israeli blockade in North Gaza Governorate.”
According to OCHA, “in northern Gaza, including Gaza City, a critical shortage of cooking gas has forced families to rely on burning waste for fuel, which raises the risk of respiratory infections, at a time when health care services are extremely limited.”
Since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, the regime forces have made sure to destroy food stores, markets, warehouses storing foodstuffs, farms and fishing boats.
The regime has also ensured that aid is looted before it reaches those who need it with some Palestinians saying that they have been buying “aid” food, not receiving it for free.
