Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rahi renewed his speech of asking the West  to disarm the reasons for which Hezbollah holds its arms, before disarming him."

"The international community should press for the implementation of international resolutions on Israel, which is the cause of why Hezbollah hold arms." He declared  

Rahi's words came in the context of his receiving at the Maronite Patriarchate a delegation of media figures.

He further explained that fundamentalist movements are rather political movements disguised with religion, it is in fact a process of killing, violence, confiscating freedoms and politicizing religion. 

Lebanon has a role to play in the region and it cannot remain occupied with its own affairs." He stressed 

Addressing the internal situation, Patriarch Rahi refused the continuity of authority at the time that each official stood obstinately on his own personal view and interests, indicating that Lebanese officials must sit on the round table and start dialogue to solve pending problems.

"Lebanon cannot stay immersed in its special matters and its authority cannot be disassociated from the big crisis that augurs badly for the economic and livelihood conditions," said the Patriarch.
