President Abbas strongly condemns Hamas chief's assassination, calls it 'cowardly act'

 President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas has strongly condemned the assassination of Hamas leader and political bureau Ismail Haniyeh and considered it a cowardly act and a dangerous development.

President Mahmoud Abbas declared today a day of mourning in protest of the assassination of Hamas political bureau chairman, Ismail Haniyeh.
The president ordered that flags be flown at half-mast in official Palestinian institutions in the West Bank governorates.
Earlier today, the President called on the Palestinian people to unite, be patient and steadfast in the face of the Israeli occupation.

The Palestinian government has condemned the assassination of Hamas leader and political bureau Ismail Haniyeh, who also served as a former prime minister.

The government called on the factions, forces and Palestinian people to further national unity and steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation and its crimes.
