Ben Gvir, in his capacity as minister of national security, ordered reducing Palestinian family visits to the prisons to once every two months instead of the current once a month. He previously also ordered other repressive measures against the prisoners.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) told WAFA that dissolving the organizational bodies means that the prison administration becomes obliged to deal with prisoners as individuals, and not through the organizations representing them.
It said the prisoners started their steps by refusing to take part in the security check on Mondays and to return their meals on Wednesdays. After two weeks, they plan to observe a hunger strike.
They said in their monthly report on the Palestinian freedom fighters held in Israeli jails that the highest number of arrests were in occupied East Jerusalem where 166 Palestinians were detained in February, including 56 minors.
