The recent meeting of the Arab League held due to the demand by President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, has nothing to do with the demands of the Palestinian nation seeking establishment of an independent government.

Mehdi Shakibaee, Iranian political commentator on Palestine issues, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) related on the recent meeting of the Arab League chaired by Somalia and the multiple aspects discussed on normalization of ties with Tel Aviv regime.
He said the final statement of the meeting was not in line with interests of the Palestinian nation seeking an independent Palestinian state (from the river to the sea.)
The political commentator added,” Although rejection of the US proposal deal of the century was brought forth, the final statement reveals that the Arab League is taking step in line with what the US and Zionist regime far from the demands of the Palestinian nation.”
Mehdi Shakibaee counted establishment of an independent state, return of the Palestinians to their ancestral lands and recognition of al-Quds as capital of Palestine as the demands of the Palestinian people though none of the discussions on the agenda of the recent meeting referred to any of Palestinians.
He rejected the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative had no difference from the yet-to-be-revealed deal of the century as the new statement calls for decreasing Palestinian lands and that an estimated number of six million Palestinians in exile should settle in the hosting countries.
He added,” The 2002 Arab Peace Initiative divides al-Quds to two parts and recognizes Tel Aviv regime to allocate the western al-Quds for Israeli and eastern al-Quds for the Palestinian people.
Iranian political analyst reiterated the meeting as fruitless and that the US in its so-called deal of the century is pressing the Arab-Islamic world with the deal so that it welcomes the plan by Arab League.
