Iran gains the know-how of to produce nuclear batteries: AEOI advisor

"Iran was the fifth country mastering the technology to produce nuclear batteries after the United States, Russia, France and Britain, " pointed out Asghar Zare'an, an advisor to Ali Akbar Salehi.

He added that the technology could be used in producing cardiac pacemakers and laptops with additional applications in the oil sector and the relocation of satellites. The official expressed hope that the country would take further steps to develop and commercialize this technology by bolstering the relationship between knowledge-based companies and domestic industries.

The AEOI official further stated that the implementation of the landmark 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries had created new opportunities for the Islamic Republic.

He added that through cooperation between Iran and Austria, which has been made possible following the conclusion of the JCPOA, the Islamic Republic's first Ion therapy center would be constructed in Alborz Province, west of Tehran, via an investment of about 250 million dollars.

Zare'an also noted that Iran would be the sixth country to develop ion therapy technology, which has applications in the treatment of cancer and other diseases.
