Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought offered condolences over passing of prominent cleric and Islamic unity figure Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri stressing that eloquence of the late scholar was the reason his dialogue with opponents was always successful.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, current secretary general of top Islamic unity body in Iran expressed regret over passing of Ayatollah Taskhiri hailing the late scholar as expressive voice of Islam and Shia noting that the high character of the late advisor of Supreme Leader would always attract even his opponents, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said the eloquence and high character of Ayatollah Taskhiri had won many friends for the late scholar from across the globe.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari referred to endeavors by Ayatollah Taskhiri to persuade Sunni scholars for endorsing the fatwa by late Imam Khomeini over punishment for Salman Rushdi, author of heinous book Satanic Verses.
The cleric also praised Ayatollah Taskhiri for years of confrontation with former Ba’ath regime and his imprisonment before his trip to Iran.
He highlighted unifying thoughts of the late scholar and his friendly ties with prominent Sunni scholars.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari made the comments to pay tribute to high character of leading Islamic unity figure and former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.
The prominent scholar and member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts passed away due to heart disease in a hospital in Tehran. His body was laid to rest in the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS) in Qom on Thursday.
