Ayatollah Taskhiri, focal point in relating Muslim world elites
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought hailed the decade-long endeavors of the late cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri as the director of the key Islamic unity center in Iran.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in his speech in an online meeting of the scholars on Monday related on the role of the late scholar and leading Islamic unity figure in boosting Islamic cooperation and building proximity among denominations, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He lauded late Ayatollah Taskhiri for his political activities before and after the Islamic Revolution and also promoting the vast relations with Sunni scholars and elites from the world of Islam.
The cleric referred to the active role of Ayatollah Taskhiri after his resignation as the secretary general of the World Forum as the advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs, chairman of the supreme council of the major Islamic unity center in Iran and also membership of the Islamic Development Bank.
"The movement launched by Ayatollah Taskhiri in the world of Islam was quite effective in the Arab world, turning to a basis for Islamic Awakening" he said and added," Over three decades of activities since early revolution in Iran have left a deep impact in the world of Islam."
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari also referred to the formation of Takfiri (excommunication) groups naming Qaeda and Daesh saying," Enemies of Islam propagated an extremist version of Islam, terror and Takfir among Islamic countries and denominations in a bid to divide them."
He called Daesh as a project by world arrogant powers and warned of over 12 years of serious tensions among Islamic countries and establishment of Daesh, Takfir and terror as a normal issue in the world of Islam harassing Muslim world with several problems.
The top cleric expressed regret for the mean policies behind establishment of Daesh and Takfiri movement that led to the return of the Islamic proximity movement.
The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought made the comments in an online meeting of the Muslim elites and religious figures held ahead of the first passing anniversary of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.
Former Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs and member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri passed away on August 8, 2020 due to heart disease.
He was a leading Islamic proximity figure and popular among leaders of the different Islamic denominations.
