“Maintaining Islamic unity necessitates role model”, Iraqi professor

Sabah Barzanji, Iraqi professor in his remarks at the first regional Islamic unity conference highlighted importance of Islamic unity and counted affection for Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Ahlul Bayt (AS) among factors which convened Muslim elites from Iran and Iraq at the meeting in Kurdistan province, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” To boost Islamic unity necessitates a role model and defining and setting role models for the concept.”
Iraqi thinker added that solidarity among Muslims should be defined beyond mottos and practically followed.
He referred to prejudice and blind immitation of others as serious blocks for materialization of Islamic unity.
Barzanji called unity as a religious and rational necessity and stressed the reasons behind importance of solidarity should be defined to all.
Iraqi university professor warned of division among Muslims as a damaging virus and said,” We should turn the virus into an assissting factor for power rather than a damaging factor.”
Sabah Barzanji concluded that materialization of Islamic unity summons both knowledge and practice and proposed that both religious leaders and experts in the fields of economy, politics and culture should be invited to such meetings in order to achieve solidarity among Muslims.
Hundreds of religious, cultural and political figues from Iran and Iraq attended the first regional Islamic unity conference held in the Iranian western province of Kurdistan on Wednesday.
The meeting was held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in line with the objectives of the annual Islamic Unity Conference.
