Beirut - Taqrib News Agency (TNA) - Former Lebanese prime minister Salim Al-Hoss said " The fact that activists had taken in Cairo to bring down the Israeli flag and place over the embassy the Egyptian flag is a sign that Egypt still and will remain the beating heart of Arabism, may God bless the Egyptian people and keep him in the lead of the Arab world at this time that watch a decline in initial positions."
Though he lauded the Egyptians for their valorous act, he denounced Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi for sticking to his throne after four decades of ruling.
"In Libya, Gaddafi reflects on what appears to be the model of irresponsible Arab who does not shy away from compromising the interests of his country and his people in order to stay on the throne. The Arab people in Libya paid a very high price from the blood of his righteous children to overthrow him, and Gaddafi continues until the moment resisting, as if forty years on that sinister magic chair was not enough, the chair that prevented to endure democracy in a number of Arab countries, and in the absence of democracy, change only gets by the devastating violence," Al-Hoss said.
His remarks come as the relations between Cairo and Tel Aviv plummeted into a tailspin after hundreds of angry protesters in Cairo staged a rally before Israeli embassy in Cairo and brought down Tel Aviv's flag.
