“Iranian ready for Islamic proximity cooperation with Oman”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, leading a delegation of cultural and religious figures from Iran, made the remarks in a meeting with the grand mufti of Oman, Sheikh Ahmad bin Hamad al-Khalili, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The top Iranian cleric highlighted the several grounds for bilateral cooperation and exchange of Shia and Sunni scholars between Iran and Oman.

The head of major Islamic unity center in Iran lauded the endeavors of the Omani scholar in line with promoting solidarity among Muslims and invited the grand mufti to attend the next meeting of Islamic Unity Conference to be held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Still in another part of his speech, Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari referred to a collection of works by late Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and proposed a compilation of the works by grand mufti of Oman also to be prepared for the scholars and people across the world of Islam.

The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought also referred to a booklet on ‘Unified Islamic Ummah and Islamic Countries Union’ and said,” This work is in line with explaining the conceptual model of the ‘unified ummah’ in Islam proposing a new architect for unity in the world of Islam.

According to the cleric the booklet is based on teachings of Qur’an, Hadith, quotes by the late Imam Khomeini (RA) and Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei and also the years of experience by those active in the field of Islamic proximity.

Sheikh Ahmad bin Hamad al-Khalili the grand mufti of Oman for his part detailed Oman’s friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and welcomed the Iranian cleric’s proposal for expansion of cultural, scientific and religious cooperation.
