Thai scholar warns against Islamophobia among Muslim world issues

The rector of Faroni University in Thailand has warned against Islamophobia as a form of anti-Islam racism expressing regret over western media’s support for the issue.

Dr Ismail Lutfi Japakiya, in his speech at the World Muslim Scholars’ Constitution Summit held in the Turkish city of Istanbul, referred to Islamophobia among the issues challenging Muslims in western countries, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He added,” Islamophobia stands for extreme fear of Islam and anything related to this religion including Hijab and burqa” calling that a threat for those who seek living in a peaceful ambiance.
 
The Thai scholar expressed regret that Islamophobia is widely promoted by the western media and social networks and said,” Those with no knowledge of true Islam would follow Islamophpobia.”
 
Ismail Lutfi Japakiya noted that the international human rights laws ban any invitation to ethnical or religious hatred and maintains equal rights for all people.
 
The scholar counted efforts to promote Islamic views on coexistence with other religions among them countering hate crimes, mobilizing campaigns to correct the misunderstandings on Islam and Muslims.
 
Ismail Lutfi Japakiya expressed his views on Islamophobia in his address at World Muslim Scholars’ Constitution Summit organized by Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs.
 
Hundreds of religious leaders and elites attended the event held in the Turkish city of Istanbul on May 13-14.
