Iran’s acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani said the necessary preparations have been made for Iranians in all countries across the globe but one, Canada, to vote in the run off presidential election.

Canada has refused to permit Iran’s 14th presidential election on its soil.

Bagheri Kani condemned Canada as a violator of human rights and deplored the Canadian government for its recent decision to blacklist Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist entity”.

Mohsen Eslami, the spokesman for Iran’s elections headquarters said nearly 100,000 Iranians cast their ballots in 136 missions of the Islamic Republic across the globe.

Eslami added that with coordination of the Iranian government, the Iranians performing Hajj pilgrimage have also cast their ballots in Saudi Arabia.

Iran held its 14th presidential election on June 28, a year ahead of schedule, after President Ebrahim Raeisi passed away in a helicopter crash on May 19.

Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili have garnered the highest number of votes and will face off in the runoff on July 5.
