Iran's consulate in Najaf to mark martyrdom anniversary of Gen. Soleimani
Iran’ to mark the fifth martyrdom anniversary of counter-terror commanders, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Muhandis in its consulate in the Iraqi city of Najaf.

The bureau of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has organized the procession to be held on Wednesday, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The Iraqi capital Baghdad has also prepared to hold processions with the commanders of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Hashd al-Shaabi and people from all walks of life in attendance.
Other Iraqi cities have begun the ceremonies for “Martyrdom and Sovereignty” Week on Saturday December 28 commemorating the top commanders assassinated by US forces in Iraq.
The main part of the ceremony will be held on January 2nd and 3rd at the site where the two commanders were martyred.
The senior commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and the PMU commander, Abu Mahdi Muhandis together with their companions were martyred in a targeted drone strike launched by US forces near Baghdad airport on January 3rd, 2020.
The two commanders were leading figures fighting Daesh terrorists in Iraq and Syria.
