Al-Rishq stressed that “the Zionist decision confirms the correctness of the choice of resistance and comprehensive confrontation against this arrogant occupier, and that it is the only path to expelling the occupation.”
He went on to call on the leadership of the PLO to “withdraw its recognition of the occupying entity and engage in our people’s struggle to liberate the land and holy sites and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
The Israeli Knesset overwhelmingly voted on Wednesday to reject the establishment of a Palestinian state even as part of a peace deal.
The decision was supported by right-wing parties participating in the coalition of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and received backing from the centrist National Unity Party led by Benny Gantz. Meanwhile, deputies from the centrist-left Yesh Atid Party, led by opposition leader Yair Lapid, left the plenary session and did not vote.
The International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body of the United Nations, is set to announce its advisory opinion today, on the legal consequences of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967.
