He made the remarks in the "Manama Talks" security seminar and noted that the events in Syria demonstrate the political failure and destructive nature of conflict and chaos. The main source of concern in Syria is extremism and terrorism. "
Qarqash said in response to a question about whether he is aware of Syrian President Assad's place that he did not know Assad is in UAE or not.
As with what is going on in Syria after the fall of Assad's government, Qarqash stressed that a trustable government is the only way in Syria and that the main concern in the country is the preservation of the Syrian territory, which is under threat.
He considered the Islamic Republic of Iran an important side in the regional equations and that talks are essential with Iran about regional issues.
The command of the Syrian Army announced on Sunday morning the fall of President Bashar Assad's rule after the armed groups seized Damascus, the capital of Syria, and news of Assad's departure was published.
The militant groups began to encroach on some parts of Aleppo on November 27, 2024, while attacking army positions, and step by step reached Damascus' royal palace.
The seizure, of course, was a violation of the ceasefire concluded between the Syrian government and the rebellions in 2020, because the region includes the de-escalation agreement.
The de-escalation agreement was signed with the guarantee of Türkiye in Astana and included areas in Idlib, the outskirts of Aleppo, and parts of Hama and Latakia.
