On Sunday night, an Israeli airstrike targeted the UNRWA-run Sheikh Jamil School in western Khan Yunis, killing at least 20 civilians. The school was targeted without any prior warning, causing significant casualties and destruction.
Additionally, Dujarric noted that Israel has rejected all requests made by the UN for approval of three humanitarian operations to deliver food and water to northern Gaza.
However, he stressed the UN’s commitment to providing aid to those in need, wherever it is required.
On October 5, 2024, Israeli occupation forces once again launched an assault on northern Gaza, accompanied by intense bombardment and a blockade that prevented the entry of essential supplies such as food, water and medicine.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a genocidal war on Gaza, which has so far resulted in over 151,000 casualties, the majority of whom are women and children.
In addition, more than 11,000 people are still missing. The ongoing aggression has also led to widespread destruction and famine, claiming the lives of dozens of children and the elderly, making it one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world.
