It pointed out that the army prevented medical and civil defense teams from reaching victims to evacuate bodies, which remain scattered on streets, especially in Gaza and northern Gaza.
The office stressed that the escalation comes on the 454th day of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people, attempting to “impose a fait accompli, targeting the foundations of life, infrastructure, and destroying everything that supports the resilience of Palestinians.”
It held Israel responsible for the “brutal crimes” and urged the international community and UN institutions to bear their legal and moral responsibilities to halt the genocide.
The office demanded “urgent international protection for the Palestinian people in Gaza, who are subjected to the worst kinds of crimes and violations.”
Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, the Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed nearly 45,600 victims, mostly women and children, since a Hamas attack on 7 October 2023.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
