The Lebanese Permanent Representative at the UN, Nawaf Salam, stated that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful in all regards.

During a UN Security Council session, Salam affirmed that according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regulations, all countries have the right to pursue peaceful nuclear projects.
Referring to the hostile policies imposed by certain Western countries on the Iranian nuclear program, the Lebanese envoy at the UN emphasized that negotiation is the only possible way to resolve the disputes.
"All regional states are interested in a Middle East free from nuclear weapons but the Zionist entity is the only country possessing nuclear armaments in the region", Salam indicated, further adding that "Israel" is not even a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Moreover, he strictly rejected any kind of discrimination regarding the issues of peaceful nuclear activities.
