Saudi Arabia to drape Ka’aba with new Kiswa on Tuesday marking the new Islamic lunar year. Short video shows the final touches on the new Kiswa. Parts of the old Kiswa is sent as a precious gift to the leaders in some countries and the rest is kept at Kiswa museum.
Before Saudi Arabia took responsibility to produce Kiswa (clothing for Ka’aba) the embroidered drape was produced at a workshop in Egypt. The following images show inside the workshop.
An administration for maintenance of the holy Ka’aba at the Grand Mosque in Mecca has maintained the Kiswa (black curtain covering Ka’aba) as part of preparation ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan.
