Sunni cleric hails Imam Hussein for his anti-corruption campaign

Iranian prayer leader of the Sunni community in Mahabad County in West Azerbaijan Province praised the great sacrifice by Imam Hussein (AS) to stand against corruption and prevent distortion of Islam.

Mamusta Abdul Salam Emami, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) called for realistic study into the sacrifice made by Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on the day of Ashura.
 
He said,” it should be studied what led to such oppression against the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the youngest of his household only few decades following the prophet of Islam.
 
“Undoubtedly a deeper view into Ashura and the Battle of Karbala will lead to the true inspiration behind that: protection of Islam and revival of the Islamic teaching on enjoining good and forbidding evil” said the Iranian Sunni scholar.
 
He noted,” Had it not been for the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussein (AS), there should have remained nothing from Islam or it would be totally different from the original religion brought by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”
 
Mamusta Abdul Salam Emami made the comments on the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala, an occasion widely commemorated by world Muslims.
