British leaders felicitate world Muslims on arrival of Ramadan

Hon Sir Keir Starmer, leader of Britain’s Labor Party, in his message called Ramadan a time of sacrifice, devotion and renewed strength.

He hailed the culture of sharing iftar meals with neighbors among Muslims and said it was an honor for him to attend iftar meals with Muslims in different parts of the country.

He vowed his party’s support for the rights of Muslims and endeavors to ensure Muslims feel safe, secure and respected under his leadership.

Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats Party extended best wishes to Muslims in the UK and around the world on arrival of the fasting month of Ramadan and called the holy month as a time for reflection, devotion and generosity.
“At this time, we recognize the generosity demonstrated by the Muslim community during Ramadan and throughout the year and the great contribution they make to our society” he said extending his wishes for those who observe the month.

Nicola Sturgeon the First Minister of Scotland and Leader of Scottish National Party highlighted the culture of assisting those in need as special part of Ramadan.

He referred to the recent floods in Pakistan and the deadly earthquake in Syria and Turkey hailing the Muslims across Scotland for providing assistance for the affected communities.

Mark Drakeford, the First Minister of Wales lauded Ramadan as “an opportunity to pause and reflect on the shared values of compassion, sacrifice and empathy for others.”

He hailed the Muslims for supporting one another and sharing with those less fortunate saying,” We, too, support and praise your selflessness and your sacrifice. And I look forward to joining you all at the end of Ramadan in the celebrations at Eid al-Fitr.”
