Iran Appoints Special Envoy for Syria Amid Regional Changes
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, in his weekly press conference on Monday, said that the Foreign Ministry appointed Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani as a special envoy to handle Syrian affairs, highlighting the strategic importance of the region amidst ongoing geopolitical changes.

He added: "The appointment of Raouf Sheibani, a seasoned diplomat with prior experience as ambassador to Syria, Lebanon, and Tunisia, underscores Iran's commitment to maintaining influence in the region."
Baghaei emphasized that Syria holds a pivotal role in West Asia, and Iran's policy is geared towards ensuring the country's territorial integrity and supporting the Syrian people's right to self-determination without external interference. This decision comes at a time when Syria faces significant political and security challenges following the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad by rebel forces.
