Jalili, Pezeshkian discuss foreign policy, cultural issues on first run off debate

The two presidential candidates Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the cultural issues and Iran’s foreign policy on their first of the two debates ahead of the Friday runoff election.

Former health minister, Masoud Pezeshkian, and former lead nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, was held on Monday night were asked questions on the two major topics they had to answer in four minutes.
 
The questions varied from ways to increase turnout in the runoff to the rights of minorities to foreign policy and Iran’s nuclear talks with the world powers also known as JCPOA.
 
Regarding the low participation of the people in June 28 election, Pezeshkian said the low turnout of the people was concerning while Jalili said that the Islamic Republic is proud to be based on people’s votes.

The two candidates also clashed over the opposite side's accusations leveled against them over the past few days.
 
The second debate between Pezeshkian and Jalili will be held on Tuesday night as the two candidates will discuss economic issues.
