The interim Friday prayer leader of Tehran has enumerated elections as a way for practicing democracy and republic in the country.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, in his Friday sermon highlighted the international message of Iran’s presidential elections and the high turnout of the people in the event, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said,” Based on our constitution, the pillars of the Islamic system are dependent upon people’s vote and that has a global message since popular election is a way of democracy and republic.”
The Friday prayer leader of Tehran underscored people’s participation in the election as a vital and effective obligation.
The cleric added,” When the national honor, reputation of the Muslim nation and establishment of the power in the Islamic system is discussed, then it is a responsibility upon the entire nation to participate in this election.”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Haj Ali Akbari made the comments in his sermon on Friday July 5 concurrent with Iran’s presidential runoff elections.
