Hamas condemns detention of al-Aqsa Mosque director
The Palestinians resistance movement Hamas has denounced the recent detention of Al-Aqsa Mosque director, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, for offering condolence over martyrdom of Hamas leader in his speech.

Hamas called for an effective Arabic-Islamic action against the aggression by Israeli regime calling for immediate release of the senior cleric, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The Palestinian resistance, in its statement, stressed that the direct attack against the Palestinian scholars and senior elites aim to marginalize the national and religious figures who defend the Arabic and Islamic identity of al-Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque.
The statement continued,” We maintain the Israeli regime responsible for security of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri and any physical or mental harm that might be inflicted on him.”
Also, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the Qatari-based Palestinian movement, deplored the Israeli regime forces for detention of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri calling that a flagrant interference by Israeli regime in the al-Aqsa Mosque affairs and a violation of the freedom to worship.
A day earlier, Israeli troops detained Sheikh Ekrima Sabri in his home in the occupied al-Quds.
According to the Israeli media, the detention followed a speech by the senior cleric when Sheikh Ekrima Sabri offered condolences over the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas resistance movement.
Thousands of Palestinians attended the funeral prayer of Ismail Haniyeh despite the tough security measures by Israeli regime forces.
