‘Palestinians must not let west impose neo-colonial policies on them’

All wars end in and through negotiations, said Aziz at the 13^th webinar of the 38th edition of the International Islamic Unity Conference.

Referring to the UNSC Resolution 2735/2024 on the Gaza ceasefire which is the legal principle of the land question, he said that the resolution is meant to be implemented in three phases.

The Order by the International Court of Justice, dated 26 January 2024 – in the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel) – set the legal basis for UNSC Resolution 2735, he noted.

While the Palestinians are focused on building strategic unity to create a genuine new nation-state, they should also create new and original economic, education, health, and energy policies as preparation for independent governing, he said.

“Otherwise, the West will draft and impose their neocolonial policies on them.”

The cost of rebuilding Gaza is estimated at $ 80 billion plus the cost of rebuilding the institutions of governance, Aziz speculated.

The only people who are primary to the transition from the present chaos to the new democratic order are the heroic Palestinian people, with international solidarity being the secondary factor, he underlined.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he attached importance to Masjid al-Aqsa, noting that the place is central to Al-Quds, which is central to Palestine, which is central to Bilad as-Shams, which is central to West Asia, which is central to the international struggle for decolonization.

“Prophet Muhammad (’s) referred to Masjid al-Aqsa as Bayt al-Muqaddas, which means the House of Purification.”
