Muslim World Should Stand against Extremism: Sunni Cleric
Mamusta Mahmoud ibn al-Khayyat, director of Imam Shafei seminary in Saqqez County in Kurdistan province in his speech at webinar held for the 37th International Islamic Unity Conference noted that the extremists in Muslim world are accomplices with enemies, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said that common principles in scientific, political, cultural, social, economic and media fields should be defined as the basis for the unity and convergence in the world of Islam.

"Muslims must always pay due attention to Islamic unity and integrity and they should abstain from any war and hostility in the Islamic community ", Al-Khayyat added.
The Sunni cleric warned that the enemies of Islam are targeting all Muslims, regardless of their being Shiites or Sunnis. "Indeed, they do their best in order to prevent Muslims from being united and behaving brotherly towards each other".

Al- Khayyat called the arrogant western powers and some extremists in the world of Islam as accomplices in targeting unity and integrity in the Islamic world, because such unity and integrity is harmful to their interests.

"Therefore, we are required to know our enemies. We should know that these enemies want to belittle Islam and Muslims. They insult the Holy Quran. This is their usual approach to belittle Muslims and indicate that there is no unity in the Islamic world", he concluded.

Held by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Muslim scholars and religious figures from across the globe exchanged views on the issues challenging the world of Islam in the 37th Islamic Unity Conference (IUC). Participants also discussed the theme of this meeting “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values.” The event is the climax of the Islamic Unity Week that marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
