“Proximity is a strategic, ideological necessity”

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance called Islamic proximity as an ideological, theological, and in view of diplomacy, a strategic necessity.

Sayyed Abbas Salehi made the comment at the farewell ceremony held for him at the end of his presidency of the University of Islamic Denominations, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” The University of Islamic Denomination is the academy to delve into the topic of Islamic proximity theoretically and epistemologically.”

The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance called the University of Islamic Denomination as a research-based academy since the major part of its mission is carried out through researches.

According to Salehi people view the topic of Islamic proximity in different levels ranging from those totally denying the topic to those view it as a strategic issue.


The farewell ceremony of former president of the University of Islamic Denomination was held following the appointment of Sayyed Abbas Salehi as the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the cabinet of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
