The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that it struck the positions belonging to the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) in reaction to the latest attacks by the group targeting US-occupied military bases in the Arab country.
Three members of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi have been wounded as roadside bomb explodes in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk.
"The security and intelligence forces in Kirkuk annihilated a terrorist network that intended to conduct several suicide operations in Kirkuk Province," the statement reads.
Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) has foiled a plot by ISIL terrorists targeting the capital Baghdad and pilgrims heading for the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
In recent months, attacks by ISIS elements in various parts of Iraq have increased. Many Iraqi people and groups attribute the increase in ISIL movements in Iraq to the US plan to continue its occupying presence in Iraq.
