Global condemnation is mounting as the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the regime forces to push ahead with invasion against Rafah, which shelters more than half of the population in the besieged Gaza Strip.
At least 20 Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli attack on Rafah at dawn on Tuesday as the regime conducted heavy attacks against the southern Gaza Strip city.
“The Israeli call for the evacuation of the citizens and refugees of Rafah, and the announced invasion, will lead to massacre,” Deputy Prime Minister Petra De Sutter said on X. “Belgium is working on further sanctions against (Israel).”
The Israeli regime is forcibly evacuating 100,000 Palestinians from Rafah ahead of a ground invasion on the so-called safe zone in southern part of the besieged Gaza Strip.
Nearly two dozen Palestinians, including eight children, have been killed and several more injured as in past 24 hours of Israeli air strikes targeting mainly the residential buildings in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Citing reports from UNICEF, the UN deputy spokesperson, Farhan Haq, at a news conference said a military operation into Rafah “would bring catastrophe on top of catastrophe” for the children there.
Israeli regime has reportedly completed plans for a ground invasion against Rafah adding that it will begin the assault if a ceasefire deal is not made within the next 72 hours.
