Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has voiced the country’s support for an impartial investigation into the chemical attack case in Syria and also the dialogue between the world’s chemical watchdog and the Arab country.
Amir Saeed Jalil Iravani said on Thursday, "While Syria has met the convention’s requirements and continues to cooperate with the OPCW constructively, handling this issue in a political and double-standard manner will only divert discussions from its technical nature and could undermine the Council’s credibility and authority."
“The OPCW is a specialized body whose agenda and scope of duties have been defined, and therefore the efforts of some Western countries to raise political issues outside the organization’s agenda will make it politicized and polarized,” Kazemi said at the 99th meeting of the organization’s executive council.
